Minister of the Interior Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Group of Seven countries to Ukraine and the UN Development Programme in Ukraine
On the agenda is safety in the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant region and the readiness of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take measures in case of deterioration of the situation. The diplomatic community was informed about the controllability of the processes in the region and the specific steps that the National Police and the State Emergency Service should and are already providing to reduce the threat in the event of destructive actions of the occupiers at the NPP.
The ambassadors' attention was focused on the priority of continuing to provide support to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service for carrying out humanitarian demining of the de-occupied territories of our country. The readiness of the UN Development Programme in Ukraine to ensure coordination of such assistance and to implement relevant projects in cooperation with pyrotechnic calculations is noted.
The Minister noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service have a comprehensive approach to the issue of humanitarian demining, because it is a problem that will need to be solved in the medium and long term.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs takes a very careful approach to the organization of the humanitarian demining process, the focus of our attention is not only on providing the relevant units with the necessary equipment and their proper training. We do not forget about raising awareness of the population about mine safety, in particular children. Also on the agenda is the digitization of relevant processes and the introduction of the latest technologies in the mining process. Only in the complex will we succeed.”
Diplomats noted the professionalism of the Ministry team and assured of readiness for further fruitful cooperation on the issues raised.
