“We are with you!”: Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Poland assured Igor Klymenko of unwavering support for Ukraine

Today, March 2, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko met in Lviv with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of the Republic of Poland Mariusz Kaminski.

First of all, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs thanked the Polish colleagues, the leadership and the people of Poland for providing tremendous and important comprehensive assistance to our state in the fight against a powerful aggressor. He also noted the help of millions of Ukrainians who passed through the Polish territory, or still remain in Poland today, because they found their shelter there.

The main leitmotif of the event was further development of effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies of neighboring states, strengthening cooperation and partnership, which already has many successful cases.

Igor Klimenko informed Polish partners about how the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine managed to demonstrate institutional stability during a year of intense war. He also emphasized the important role of partner assistance. In particular, from the Republic of Poland, thanks to which it is possible to effectively provide the functionality assigned to the department.

“From the very beginning, we have supported Ukraine, its Ministry of Internal Affairs. We know that you have a very difficult situation, but we came here to say, “We are with you!” And one of the practical signals about this is the transfer of seven cars from us to the Ukrainian police. In the future, we will transfer equipment to both your military and law enforcement officers. We will also help to continue the work on documenting the consequences of Russian aggression,” Mariusz Kaminsky outlined the practical component of the support of Ukrainian partners.

He also said that the Polish investigative authorities have already interviewed more than 1.7 thousand Ukrainian citizens living in this country in order to be able to witness certain documents and evidence of Russian aggression.

Mariusz Kaminski assured that Poland will continue to ensure that the necessary equipment and equipment, in particular for Ukrainian police, rescuers and border guards, continue to arrive in accordance with the needs of Kyiv. In addition, he noted that the medical institutions of his department are ready to receive wounded Ukrainian servicemen and policemen to treat them.

In turn, Igor Klymenko spoke about the priorities in which the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine expects partner assistance first of all. It was about equipping with weapons, mobile hospitals and other measures to support the formation of eight volunteer brigades of the “Guard of Offensive”.

“The focus of the requests of the Ukrainian side is the deepening of cooperation in the field of humanitarian demining,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev.

Igor Klimenko thanked for the high-quality work of the task force consisting of almost 100 pyrotechnicians from Poland, which recently completed its mission in Kyiv region and gained considerable experience here.

“In the future, for demining, we need heavy equipment or the participation of large operators, which will help to quickly and deeply clean large areas of our territory from explosive objects,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He noted that the dialogue on the participation of Polish specialists in this process will continue.

The parties also discussed the issue of cooperation between individual departments that are part of the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system. In particular, the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko stressed the need for further intensified work on strengthening the state borders of our countries. Acting Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi thanked for the opportunity to train Ukrainian investigators on the basis of Polish departmental training facilities and provided assistance with forensic equipment for quick DNA identification of the bodies of the dead.

At the end of the event, Igor Klimenko presented a Polish colleague with a trident, stylized as a falcon, which breaks the Russian warship “Moscow”. And on the contrary, from Mariusz Kaminsky, he received the symbol of the Polish voivodeship - a sword.
