The pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service carried out large-scale work on demining the territory of the Kiev region, which was shelled by the Russians with artillery. Now pyrotechnics are actively working on lakes and rivers. This is stated in The Washington Post.

“This one flew in and did not explode. If you step on it, it may or may not explode, depending on the state of the detonator. But an accident can happen if a person steps on the fire or the detonator itself,” said the head of the group of diver sappers of the SNS Roman Goryak.

The Goryak team specializes in unexploded ordnance in lakes. Recently in Gostomel, his team of divers completed work in a small lake, where they combed the bottom and found the last of six shells of the present war.

“From the side, it may seem that the process of underwater mining is meditative, that there is some Zen in it. But in this particular lake, everything is not at all so. We have terrible zero visibility, an unpleasant smell and a shell-covered bottom. Here we work almost blindly,” said lead diver Denis Borbit.

It is still possible to find much larger bombs than conventional shells, according to the employees of the State Emergency Service. Such unexploded aerial bombs, according to Goryak, must be lifted from the water using a balloon, and then delivered to a safe detonation site, which is located kilometers from settlements.
