Frauds with forest products worth more than UAH 32 million: law enforcement officials reported suspicion to 10 participants of the OZH
Among the suspects are current and former forestry workers of Vinnytsia region and entrepreneurs. The activities of the group were exposed by the operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Vinnytsia region together with fellow law enforcement officers. As established by the police, he organized the activities of a forestry group of one of the forestry departments of the Vinnytsia region. He attracted 5 of his subordinates, two entrepreneurs and a representative of a woodworking enterprise.
The attackers set up a scheme to steal timber. They chopped down trees in the forestry area, which were not subject to cutting according to the materials of removal, and also assisted other individuals in this. In the future, untreated forest products were sold to their entrepreneurs. In addition, they sold high quality wood at low prices.
As a result of this activity, the state suffered losses in the amount of more than 32 million UAH.
Based on the evidence received, SBI investigators informed 10 members of the organized crime group about the suspicion. Depending on the participation and role in the criminal “scheme” of actions, participants are qualified:
- Art. 27, Art. 28, part 3 of Art. 365 (excess of power or official authority by an employee of a law enforcement agency);
- Art. 28, part 4 of Art. 246 (illegal forfeiture or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the procedural guidance is carried out by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
