Leonid Tymchenko: All electronic documents are verified in the Unified Register of Weapons
The unified register of weapons successfully continues to work. It contains data on all civilian weapons that are now in the hands of citizens of Ukraine. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko told about this on the air of the All-Ukrainian TV Marathon “United News”.
“Since the beginning of the work of the registry, 1243 people have received permits, provided a full package of documents and have been checked by police officers,” said Leonid Tymchenko.
He also noted that thanks to the work of the Unified Register of Weapons, the time for obtaining permits and verification time will now be significantly reduced, as well as the extension of existing documents: “This will probably be done in less than one day, and I think it may even take up to one hour,” the Deputy Minister said.
An important issue in the discussion was also whether it is possible for dishonest citizens to provide fake documents in electronic form, in particular, certificates from a narcologist and a psychiatrist.
“It should be noted right away that there is criminal liability for forgery of documents and the use of forged documents. Secondly, employees of the National Police, directly employees of the department of arms control, are obliged to check and verify those documents that a citizen provides for the extension of a weapon permit or for obtaining it. If there are any questions from the employees of the National Police, such permits will not be granted,” said Leonid Tymchenko.
He noted that the answer to citizens will necessarily be reasoned so that they either provide a better certificate, or contact the employees of the National Police of Ukraine directly.
