They stole oil and earned more than 500 thousand hryvnias: law enforcement officers detained members of the criminal group (video)
Law enforcement officers in Poltava region exposed an interregional criminal group. It was created by two natives of the city of Lubny previously convicted of similar crimes. In the “work” as accomplices, they involved former law enforcement officers and residents of the two regions. Members of the group “crashed” into a pipeline to steal oil.
The accomplices selected in advance the most suitable place for “cutting in”, purchased a dredging machine and illegally connected to the oil pipeline of one of the gas processing plants on the territory of the Chernihiv region. Under the ground, the intruders laid a branch with a total length of about 5 kilometers. On the opposite side, they installed a tank for the accumulation of stolen carbohydrate raw materials.
Each of the members of the criminal group adhered to the rules of conspiracy: only radio stations were used for communication, and night vision binoculars and thermal imagers were used for late work.
The stolen oil was transported by dealers in specially equipped trucks. At one time they managed to steal up to 12 cubic meters of raw materials. Then the dealers sold it to oil bases and various commercial structures on the territory of Poltava, Chernihiv and Cherkasy regions. As a result, they had more than 500 thousand hryvnias of profit.
Law enforcement officers detained members of the criminal group during the theft of oil. At the places of residence, registration and in the cars of the defendants, 18 searches were carried out, special equipment, trucks and cars, equipment for pumping hydrocarbon raw materials, documents and “rough” records were seized.
Five members of the criminal group were notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 185 (Theft) and Part 2 of Art. 292 (Damage to objects of main or industrial oil, gas, condensate pipelines and oil product pipelines) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Detained defendants were placed in the IT of Poltava city.
