The resource, located on the Ukrainian domain, offered paid services for changing mobile numbers. Using spoofing technology, fraudsters pretended to call citizens from the bank and subsequently gained access to their cards.

The scheme was organized by a British citizen who is currently in custody. The man created his own website, which offered a “package of services” for committing fraud using social engineering.

In particular, it was proposed to carry out spoofing - changing the phone number. In this way, attackers could simulate calls from banks. The robotic voice, under various pretexts, reported the need to provide bank data to a fake bank employee. Having received this information, the attackers appropriated money from the accounts of the victims. Also, the services made it possible to intercept one-time passwords.

Such services cost from 100 to 1300 pounds, depending on the chosen “tariff”. Customers paid in cryptocurrency.

It was established that thousands of people were affected by the illegal activity of the resource, the damage reaches more than 100 million pounds.

As part of international cooperation, the cyber police blocked a fraudulent resource that was located on a Ukrainian domain. The international police operation also involved representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US Secret Service (USSS), Europol, Eurojust and law enforcement agencies from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania and the Netherlands.
