Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine have found 28 killings in Kharkiv region since the de-occupation of the territory. This is the largest number in Ukraine. Three of them remain undocumented due to the fact that they are located in heavily shelled settlements on the border with the Russian Federation.

Law enforcement officers are investigating 10 criminal proceedings for torture in Kharkiv region, within the framework of which work is underway with 227 victims. Among the largest is the case of a funeral home in the city of Kupyansk. Here, the military of the Russian army, the illegal armed formations of the “LNR/DNR” and collaborators illegally detained and tortured local residents in the premises of the temporary detention center of the Kupyansk police department for more than half a year. As part of the combined proceedings, 73 crimes are investigated under Part 1, 2 of Art. 438 Criminal Code of Ukraine - cruel treatment of civilians, including - combined with premeditated murder.

67 people were recognized as victims at the hands of the invaders in Kupyansk Kativna. However, the police are aware of the torture of more than 150 victims between the ages of 16 and 65. It was this number of people who were kept in the temporary detention center of the Kupyansk police department with its maximum capacity of 45 people. Investigators also know that some of them were held for more than 100 days.

The victims are ordinary Ukrainians between the ages of 16 and 65. Among them are schoolchildren, pensioners, teachers, directors of local businesses and farmers.

The occupiers beat people with their hands and feet, rubber sticks and pipes, electric shock and electrocution. They burned plastic on the body, bent arms and joints in shackles, forced to work, exerted psychological pressure.

As a result of such actions of the occupiers, two of the prisoners died, four are considered missing, and four are still in captivity. Most have suffered severe psychological trauma. Investigators of the specialized department for the investigation of war crimes work with them.

Currently, hundreds of investigative actions have been carried out within the framework of the Kupyan torture trial and the available evidence is already sufficient to qualify the occupiers' actions as those committed as part of an organized group. Currently, the task of law enforcement is to identify and identify all Russian military, “LNR/DNRIVTS"and traitors-collaborators involved in the torture of Ukrainians in Kupyansk.
