Information on delays in issuing passport documents
The armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, unfortunately, made adjustments to the process of issuing biometric documents to our citizens. In particular, this was reflected in the speed of production and issuance of ID cards and passports of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad.
As a result of the ruthless bombardment by the invaders not only of cities and infrastructure of Ukraine, but also the destruction and partial destruction of logistics routes, we faced unprecedented difficulties related to the supply and delivery of the necessary consumables for printing passports, including from abroad. As a result, they are forced to state delays in the deadlines for the production of documents.
We understand how important it is for all citizens of Ukraine to have passport documents in hand during the martial law, so one of the priority tasks for us remains to take all possible measures for their timely issuance. In close cooperation between the Government of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the State Migration Service of Ukraine and SE “Polygrafkombinat “Ukraine”, unprecedented efforts are being made to correct the situation and establish reliable logistics channels for the supply of necessary components and materials.
It is important that the territorial bodies and units of the SMS, which are located in safe areas, continue to work and provide administrative services to the population, despite difficult conditions. Every day we acceptthousands of applications from citizens for registration of biometric passport documents. The activities of all bodies involved in the process of registration and issuance of passports are aimed at ensuring that citizens receive passport documents as soon as possible.
In addition, for the convenience of citizens, the Government adopted a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the provisions of which it is allowed to extend the validity of passports of a citizen of Ukraine to travel abroad and to paste a photo of the child in the passport of the parents, both in the units of the DMS and in the diplomatic institutions of Ukraine abroad.
