Igor Klymenko: Since the beginning of the war, the National Police has initiated about 40 criminal proceedings for financing war or terrorism
During an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency, the head of the National Police of Ukraine reported on the investigation by the police into the use of businesses in Ukraine to finance the Russian army.
“Since the beginning of the war, investigators of the National Police have initiated about 40 criminal proceedings precisely on the grounds of possible financing of war or terrorism. Only the Department of Strategic Investigations of the NPU within two months of the beginning of the war placed under control more than 7 thousand residents who had or could have had business relations with the aggressor country, including Belarus,” Igor Klymenko noted.
According to him, one of the most resounding results is the seized land plot in Transcarpathia, which belongs to Medvedchuk's wife Oksana Marchenko.
“We have arrested the corporate rights, namely 25% of the shares, of the chairman of the board of directors of the Russian manufacturer of wagons of the Metal Structures Plant, which is a shareholder of the Kryukovsky Carriage Plant. The next fact is the illegal withdrawal of funds of clients of one of the banks under import contracts outside foreign exchange control in the amount of 800 million hryvnias, - said the head of the NPU.
In total, the investigators of the National Police established almost 2600 companies owned by persons from the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus. Total revenue in the amount of more than 15 billion hryvnias.
“This is what it is today. And, of course, today we collect and document the possible involvement of officials of state-owned enterprises and private forms of ownership and even foreign citizens in the financing of the aggressor country. Definitely, in my opinion, those enterprises and those citizens who financed the war of Russia against Ukraine should suffer the appropriate punishment”, - Igor is convinced Klymenko.
