On March 28, 2024, Ukrainian-Polish government consultations were held in Warsaw. The delegation from Ukraine was headed by Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal. Among the government officials who represented Ukraine was the Minister of Internal Affairs. Prior to this, Igor Klymenko met with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland Marcin Kervinsky.

“Ukraine and Poland are strategic allies. We must clearly understand the importance of mutual support and the potential of our cooperation,” said the Head of the Ukrainian Government Denis Shmyhal.

Denis Shmyhal said that the government teams of both states discussed a number of issues that are of mutual interest in cooperation. In particular, much attention was paid to such complex topics as the situation at the border and trade in the agricultural sector, and the direction of solving these issues was determined.

“We expect concrete answers from Poland on the steps we have proposed. Most of them have already been completed. We expect the European Commission to ban the transit and export of goods from Russia and Belarus, as well as the approval of our agreement on joint control at checkpoints,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

He stressed that strategic relations involve mutual trust and openness, the ability to dialogue and compromise: “We expect that today's consultations will bring results and we will find ways to resolve problematic issues.”

As a result of the intergovernmental consultations, a joint statement was adopted in which the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Poland, in particular, confirmed the unwavering support of the Republic of Poland to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in repelling the illegal, unjustified and unprovoked war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which violated the international framework law and order and stressed the need to deepen cooperation in the field of combating crime and agreed on the steps to be taken for the signing of the new Polish-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement in Combating crime.
