Igor Klymenko about the 6th day of disaster elimination at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant
All services of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 military regional administrations and volunteers continue to overcome the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by the Russians. Head of Staff — Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko summed up the work done for the day.
“We work in Kherson, Nikolaev, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa and Zaporizhia regions. At the moment I am in the Kherson region and here we see how, despite significant precipitation, the coastline recedes by 350-400 meters,” the Minister said.
Igor Klymenko added that at the moment the issue of providing the population with drinking and technical water is being resolved. Problems with wells, drilling of new artesian squashes, as well as delivery of technical and drinking water to citizens' homes are studied.
“So that people have confidence in the future, so that there is no fear - we also study the issues of reclamation, keeping livestock at home. Large areas of agricultural enterprises have lost or are losing water to irrigate large areas. Therefore, this is the priority of the Government today. That every settlement be provided with water,” said Igor Klymenko
At this stage, water will be brought. Stationary and mobile water dispensing points will work. Within a few weeks, the technical issues of water availability in each individual community will be resolved. Currently, specialists are studying the behavior of the Dnieper River and other rivers that were flooded in the 50s, when the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant was launched.
“We are trying to do everything in a safe way so that our citizens are not in areas where water can return. Therefore, I urge citizens who want to film how the water leaves, to refrain from doing so, because it is extremely dangerous. The soil is not stable, we have a problem with swamps, which drag all living things into them. Take care of your life! We will do everything to provide citizens with water and that everyone feels safe,” Minister Igor Klymenko concluded his address.
