Igor Klymenko: We will build a new medical system that will provide treatment, rehabilitation and accompaniment to each of our employees
This was stated today, March 17, by the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko during a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine Antonio Gazzanti Puliese di Cotrone.
During the event, the parties discussed the issues of rehabilitation and psychological support of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as well as assistance of the Order of Malta in the humanitarian context.
At the beginning of the meeting, Igor Klymenko stressed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs highly appreciates the long-term support of the Order of Malta since the beginning of the war.
He noted that the war continues and the Ministry is already preparing for new challenges. The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs make up 20% of all the State Security and Defense Forces. They will take part in the upcoming hostilities and de-occupy Ukrainian territories.
“First of all, we are talking about providing medical care and rehabilitation of our heroes who will suffer injuries. All medical institutions of the system of internal affairs bodies are ready for this,” Igor Klymenko said.
We are talking about the deployment of mobile hospitals, as well as the reconstruction of medical facilities. An important aspect remains the social security of this category of persons and their psychosocial rehabilitation.
“We want to build a new system that will provide treatment, rehabilitation, and accompaniment to each of our employees. Soon we will open a rehabilitation center near Kyiv,” the minister said.
For his part, Antonio Gazzanti Puliese di Cotrone assured that the Order of Malta is ready to join this project in the context of training specialists in psychological rehabilitation.
Also, Igor Klymenko outlined the main vectors in the work of the Ministry after the victory and emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 10 thousand employees of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were injured.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about the concept of forming a safe environment in Ukraine, where the priority is the protection of children, who have become the most vulnerable category of persons as a result of the war.
“We want to return a sense of security to children and adults,” the Minister stressed.
