Igor Klymenko: People who profit from humanitarian aid are internal enemies of Ukraine
The National Police has launched 320 criminal proceedings for fraud and abuse of humanitarian aid or collection of funds for the military and displaced persons. This was announced by the head of the National Police of Ukraine on the air of the tele-marathon “United News”.
Commenting on the situation regarding the criminal proceedings initiated on these facts, Igor Klymenko noted that 43 persons have been notified of suspicions, several proceedings have already been sent to court.
“In the Lviv region, we announced suspicions to merchants who tried to sell military ammunition through shops and markets. In Dnipropetrovsk, a group was exposed for selling humanitarian aid for internally displaced persons for more than 1.3 million hryvnias. In the Rivne region, merchants sold cars that came as charitable assistance. A well-known story is the situation in the Ternopil region, where a charitable organization allocated 2 million hryvnias collected by people. This case is already in court,” the head of the National Police said.
According to him, businessmen who profit from humanitarian or charitable assistance are cynical people without any moral values, who do not always have a criminal past. “These are internal enemies of Ukraine who are stealing citizens and our military. But we will do everything so that this internal enemy does not raise its head, because we work preventively and react quickly to every statement,” said Igor Klymenko.
The head of the NPU appealed to citizens with a request to immediately report any facts of abuse of charity or humanitarian aid.
