Hero of Ukraine Major General Serhiy Kulchytskyi was posthumously awarded the “Honorary Badge of St. Yuri” in Lviv

In the large session hall of the Lviv City Council, 21 families of soldiers who died among the first in this war in 2014 were presented with the awards “Badge of Honor of St. Yuri”. This special award is dedicated to the patron saint of the city — St. Yuri, it will be received by all Lviv residents who gave their lives in the fight against the enemy.

Representatives of the city authorities of the city together with the leadership of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine and the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny presented the awards.

The first award was received by Nadezhda Kulchytska, wife of Sergei Kulchitsky, Major General, Hero of Ukraine, a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine, who died while performing a combat mission on May 29, 2014 in the city of Slovyansk, Donetsk region.

“I want to sincerely thank you that in such a difficult time for our country, when every Ukrainian knows what it is like to cry without tears and speak without words, you found strength, time and resources and honored the bright memory of our Heroes, defenders of Ukraine, who gave their most precious lives for the prosperity of our country,” Nala said Kulchytska.

The “Badge of Honor of St. Yuri” is a city award, which is awarded for outstanding merits to Lviv.
