The burden on police officers with the beginning of a full-scale invasion increased by 80%. At the same time, the number of police has not increased, just as there are no new recruits to the police ranks. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko in an interview with the National Telemarathon “United News”.

“There are currently 98,000 police officers in the police force. Before a full-scale war, they were evenly dispersed throughout the state,” the Minister stressed.

With the beginning of the invasion, emphasized the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, tectonic movements began. And now in the combat zone and in the frontline territories, and this - 900 km from Chernihiv region in the north to Mykolaiv region in the south - 35 thousand police officers serve in a reinforced regime.

“Another 5 thousand police officers in the ranks of the “Fury” brigade, - Igor Klymenko clarified.

The rest ensure law and order in the country, fight crime and ensure order on the roads, respond to citizens' appeals.

“If before the invasion there were 23-26 policemen for every 10,000 population in Ukraine, now only in the de-occupied frontline areas this figure is 100,” the Minister noted, adding that the range of duties and tasks of police officers has increased by 80%. That is, almost twice.

“At the same time, the number of police officers did not increase, recruitment to the police was not carried out, because we understand that it is difficult for the country now,” Igor Klymenko stressed.

But if the situation develops in this way, he noted that it is necessary for the police to take up arms, then they will do it. And he recalled the first months of the invasion, when in almost all operational areas the police repelled the Russian occupiers as part of the consolidated detachments.
