The SNS will receive special equipment from the Chemonics Partnership for a Strong Ukraine Foundation
Today, August 18, the leadership of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the Chemonics Partnership for a Strong Ukraine Foundation on the provision of machinery and equipment for the needs of the emergency services and assistance in the reconstruction of state fire and rescue units.
In particular, it was about special equipment needed by Ukrainian rescuers to eliminate the consequences of extraordinary events, in particular, provoked by Russian military aggression.
Foreign partners reported that they have developed sets of equipment for rescue service units: for carrying out emergency and rescue work, extinguishing fires at petrochemical facilities, for eliminating the consequences of the destruction of buildings and rescuing people from rubble, for work on the outcrop and on the water, demining territories, etc.
Separately, James Fennell, Director of the Early Recovery Program, focused on mobile specialized modules, which are equipped with everything necessary in the event of biological and nuclear threats.
“At the moment we have one such module for testing, in the future it is possible to transfer more of them. If necessary, a specialized module can be sent to Zaporizhia,” said James Fennell.
It was also about special modules for volunteer fire teams with the necessary equipment. Another area of technical assistance, which was discussed during the meeting, is specialized drones for fire and rescue work. Such drones are equipped with a thermal imager, spotlights and other important functional means.
During the receipt of specialized equipment and special modules, Ukrainian rescuers will undergo appropriate training organized by instructor partners. The equipment will be sent primarily to border areas and those regions that most need the involvement of the units of the State Emergency Service in connection with fires and destruction of buildings.
Representatives of the State Emergency Service thanked the partners from the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine Foundation Chemonics for their complicity and offered timely assistance. After all, today rescuers are an example of indefatigability and courage and perform titanic work, but they urgently need special equipment that will increase the efficiency of rescue work.
