About 6 thousand employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved in the elimination of bad weather - Igor Klymenko
The units of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were preparing to eliminate the effects of the weather within three days. The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko reported this on the air of the Unified News Telemarathon.
“We have been warning citizens about bad weather since Friday. Then a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations was held at the behest of the Prime Minister. It was reported to the President of Ukraine that we are ready for this bad weather. Unfortunately, not all citizens heeded the warnings. As a result, more than 1.5 thousand trucks, a huge number of buses got into a blizzard,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
Igor Klymenko added that the drivers of the cars that are on hold, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system provided water and food. Currently, about 6 thousand people take part in the elimination of the effects of bad weather. These are road service workers, rescuers, border guards, policemen, guards.
“We continue to work on the roads, we continue to control traffic. We have achieved that the number of road accidents, not taking into account snowdrifts and cars entering the ditch, minimized and prevented tragic consequences,” the Minister said.
In total, an additional 13 mobile heating points, transport, generators, more than 20 thermal boiler houses have been prepared in Ukraine, which, if necessary, are ready to arrive at the specified place.
Finally, Igor Klymenko urged citizens to listen to the advice of the Hydrometeorological Center and the authorities. After all, the number of cars that are currently stuck in snowdrifts is associated with citizens' neglect of safety rules.
In addition, we inform that in order to coordinate the actions of the police and rescuers to help the population affected by the weather, power outages and heating, a Coordination Headquarters has been deployed on the basis of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If the situation worsens, the headquarters is ready to organize assistance with equipment and equipment from other regions of the state.
