The State Migration Service has simplified the procedure for issuing, renewing and replacing passports for children. This greatly facilitates the crossing of the border. At the same time, the State Border Guard Service monitors the legality of such departure.

This was stated during a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko.

“Every child has the opportunity to cross the state border in both directions on the basis of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine to travel abroad, the validity of which has been extended, as well as on the basis of a passport for traveling abroad of her parents or legal representatives, in which information about this child is entered,” she said.

Ekaterina Pavlichenko stressed that another innovation is currently working - the possibility for parents or legal representatives of the child to form and use an e-passport to travel abroad in relation to a child under 14 years of age.

At the same time, the State Border Guard Service monitors the legality of the procedure for crossing the border by children. Since the beginning of the war, border guards have refused entry to 135 children — citizens of Ukraine. Reasons for refusal: lack of parental power of attorney, not valid documents, missing documents.
