Denis Monastyrsky: The attack on Zaporizhzhia was carried out by the Russian Federation with modernized S-300 missiles, which have a much larger radius of action
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky during the “United News” tele-marathon on the situation in Zaporizhia.
At the moment, there is information that Russian missiles struck humanitarian columns leaving Zaporizhia. 30 people were killed, among them - 2 children, 88 people were injured.One policeman was killed, 27 were wounded:
“So far, the statistics have not increased. The first day is the most difficult and decisive. And in the morning you can summarize those who have come out of a critical state. Whenever I am in one of these places — Kremenchuk, Vinnytsia, Odessa region, Zaporizhzhia, I constantly ask myself the question, why are the Russians doing this, what does Putin want to achieve? But now it is absolutely clear to me that his statements are laid with blood. And they, in fact, demonstrate to our society, to the whole world what “Russian peace” means.
The minister noted that for the first time the terrorist attack used modernized S-300 missiles, which explode as soon as they touch the surface. The previous version of these missiles exploded, plunging several meters into the ground, forming deep ravines, but at the same time less striking the people around.
“Our pyrotechnics at the scene reported that the rocket exploded upon contact with the ground. This is done so that as many people as possible die. And then we saw how it acts deadly and how many people can die,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
According to him, there were no military facilities or equipment nearby. Every morning there are cars in the humanitarian column to visit relatives: mostly women, children and elderly people who move in old cars in the other direction, and in the evening they go back.
“Just the policemen at this time had a change, so there are such a large number of victims. The police guys hid children, people, because the rocket attacks were in several series. Given the density of transport at the gathering point of the humanitarian column, the casualties could have been significantly greater. The wounded policemen told me that if the missile strike had been 5 minutes later, there would have been twice as many cars in that place,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed.
