Denis Monastyrsky: More than 30 million hectares of Ukraine need demining
This was announced today, June 2, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky during the tele-marathon “United News”, where the issues of demining and security of citizens were discussed.
Denis Monastyrsky said that today the demining of Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv regions is being carried out. Operational demining of more than 2.7 million hectares has been carried out.
“For comparison, we need to process more than 30 million hectares. We attract foreign teams of pyrotechnics and their equipment, they help us to deport Ukrainian territories,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He also stressed that there are already tragic cases of blowing up citizens on explosive objects. During the month of May, 15 such cases were recorded.
“I am convinced that our reality has to change. Every schoolchild, every worker, mother and father should know and teach their children mine safety,” the Minister assured.
Speaking about preventive measures for mine safety, he recalled educational cartoons with a pyrotechnic dog Patron from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and also said that from the new school year educational lessons will begin in schools on this topic.
