Denis Monastyrsky thanked the Deputy Head of the Consultative Mission of the European Union to Ukraine Fredrik Wesslau for his personal contribution to the reform of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
Frederik Wesslau, who completed his four-year mission in Ukraine as Deputy Head of the ECSC, assured that he intends to continue to make every possible effort to continue the successful transformation of our civil security sector in line with EU standards.
Both interlocutors stressed that during the functioning of the Mission in the Ministry there have been significant changes both in the system of coordination and interaction of the constituent bodies, as well as in personnel management, training of personnel, etc. The joint efforts succeeded in implementing a number of important projects, including: “Leadership in change management”, “Support for police reform in Ukraine” (introduction of the European model of public order protection), introduction in Ukraine of the concept of police activity driven by intelligence — Intelligence Led Policing.
D. Monastyrsky expressed his gratitude to the European Commission for its participation in the development of the Ukrainian methodology for the Assessment of Threats of Organized Crime — SOCTA, which formed the basis of the national Strategy for Combating Organized Crime.
He also positively assessed the demonstrated ability of the ECSC to respond to the emergence of new challenges with the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression.
“We are grateful for the reorientation of the unused project budget to practical assistance for our units, which from the first day participate in repelling armed aggression,” the Minister said. He expressed hope for further joint work with IMES specialists in the implementation of already started projects, including “Community Police Officer”, “Safe Childhood”, “Custody records”, as well as promotion of the initiatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the context of the implementation of tasks related to the integration of Ukraine into the European Union.
