Denis Monastyrsky: I am convinced that with our united efforts we will overcome all challenges
Today, October 10, on the air of the UAJoint Telemarathon, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky spoke about the consequences of Russia's massive attack on energy facilities and the civilian population of the country.
“I saw the whole Ukraine, the whole world, what was happening today. This is actually the second such large-scale shelling after February 24, and from the point of view of critical energy infrastructure - it was the largest in modern history,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to Denis Monastyrsky, 74 attacks were recorded in 12 regions, 14 people were killed, 97 injured.
“Shelling on energy infrastructure also has serious consequences. In fact, it was a blow not only for the energy sector of Ukraine. Today's forced decision to suspend electricity exports suggests that this blow was on the unified energy system of Europe,” the minister said.
Today, thanks to our rescuers, 30 fires that occurred in a number of regions have been eliminated. Unfortunately, more than 1300 settlements remain without light.
“In the Dnipropetrovsk region, 4 mines with 854 miners were de-energized. Now there are still 118 people there: the planned ascent to the surface continues — everyone will be alive and well. I am convinced that with our combined efforts we will overcome all challenges,” the minister said.
He also said that most of the facilities had already been worked by rescuers and investigators:
“Everywhere there were war crimes, SBU and National Police investigators, experts worked. Now we are doing everything to start the restoration of facilities - the energy workers will work all night, the employees of the State Emergency Service as well. We attracted mobile generators, which are available at the SNS. They work in 5 regions”, - said Denis Monastyrsky.
He also said that all hospitals in the country have generators — medical facilities will work without interruption.
“We were preparing for this — the government bought generators, mobile boiler houses in sufficient quantity to cope with this invasion. In technical terms, the limit of our capabilities is far from exhausted,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Also on the air, the minister said that he was struck while communicating with people at the scene of the tragedies in the capital: “There was no emotion of hopelessness that I saw in previous months.
An hour after the arrival, people were discussing what our offensive would be like.”
