Denis Monastyrsky discussed with US congressmen the urgent needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the conditions of war
During the meeting that took place today, May 25, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine informed the American delegation about the powers and tasks performed by the employees of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the military aggression.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed gratitude to the American partners for their help in confronting the aggressor.
“We are approaching 100 days of war. The situation at the front constantly brings new challenges. These difficult days have clearly shown who Ukraine's friends are. And today we meet with friends who support us in this terrible period,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges facing the National Police, the State Border Guard, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service and the State Migration Service, which on their fronts make a huge contribution to the fight against the Russian invasion. It was also about the provision of humanitarian assistance to assist in the accomplishment of these tasks.
“The police strictly guard the rule of law, taking into account all wartime restrictions, as well as investigate most war crimes, recording atrocities of Russian soldiers and conducting examinations in the de-occupied territories. Guards and border guards often, along with the military, fight back against the enemy, while at the same time performing their immediate duties. Migrant workers activated all resources to restore and issue passports to citizens of Ukraine who, fleeing from the hottest points, were left without documents. The burden on Ukrainian rescuers has grown incredibly, whose work today largely depends on the recovery of Ukraine's economy,” Denis Monastyrsky said, answering questions from US congressmen.
The Minister emphasized the importance of the mission of the State Emergency Service, which is responsible for the main burden of humanitarian demining of territories. After all, the speed of demining depends on the speed of demining, the life of Ukrainians, the restoration of agriculture and business, and therefore the restoration of livelihoods in many regions.
“Therefore, one of the most urgent needs at the moment is special equipment for humanitarian demining of territories, which will allow in the short term to cover much larger areas and neutralize a larger number of explosive objects,” Denis Monastyrsky is convinced.
