Denis Monastyrsky: We draw conclusions from every day to make it impossible for kamikaze drones to get into the middle of the city
This was said by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky during a live broadcast on the television marathon “United News” about the massive attack by kamikaze drones.
“I can say that according to the results of the rescue work that we are carrying out all day, unfortunately, 4 dead people were pulled out from under the rubble. 19 were rescued, some of them provided medical assistance and some remain in medical institutions,” - said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
He added that among the rescuers of the Emergency Service there are two injured as a result of the drone's re-arrival. They worked at the site where the explosion had previously also occurred.
Denis Monastyrsky thanked the National Police and the Air Force for the destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles: “I want to thank the police, this is a truly unique case when a drone was shot down with a small weapon. But the main thing is to thank the air forces, because 90% of the drones that were launched to us were destroyed before reaching the cities.”
“We draw conclusions every day and these cases that we are observing today are also analyzed by both the military and the police in order to make it impossible for them to get into the city center,” the Minister assured.
Regarding assistance to protect against kamikaze drones, he stressed that negotiations are taking place with international partners: “We are faced with the fact that the conventional REB (radio warfare) systems used to land most drones are not suitable in these cases. Of course, there is communication with our international partners who have already had the opportunity to study such systems and work to plant them. Negotiations are now underway with a number of countries.”
Denis Monastyrsky also added that civilians should not use weapons against unmanned aerial vehicles. The policeman who managed to hit the drone today used the weapon safely: there were no buildings and people around. In his opinion, the best assistance to the Air Force is to call 102 in case of detection of an enemy drone with a fixed location and flight time.
