This was announced today, June 2, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky during the tele-marathon “United News”. Discussed the issue of arms circulation among the civilian population.

“In fact, our citizens have been given a gun ownership test since February 24. Tens of thousands of weapons were distributed in major cities. Today, the majority of gun owners are at the front, defending our state in Kharkiv, Donetsk Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Nikolaev and Odessa regions”, - said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Commenting on the results in Action, the minister noted that it showed a change in the attitude of people to the issue of arms circulation. A year ago, a similar opinion poll was conducted, and then only a third of citizens considered it possible to own weapons for their own protection.

Regarding the settlement of this issue, Denis Monastyrsky stressed that the Law on the Circulation of Civilian Weapons is now being prepared for the 2nd reading in the Parliament.

“We are confident that parliamentarians will make appropriate changes to the 2nd reading. The concept of possession should be different, the circulation of weapons should be regulated at the level of the law. My personal position is that in order to protect their own home, a Ukrainian should have a weapon,” the minister said.
