Main functions of the Directorate:

1) strategic and current planning of the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, development of proposals for the formation of goals and priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the spheres of its competence, preparation of proposals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Program of Activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, draft priority action plans of the Government and medium-term action plans of the Government, taking into account foreign policy the state's course on achieving the criteria for membership in the EU and NATO;

2) participation in ensuring the formation of state policy in the spheres of competence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and ensuring its compliance with the programs of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, priority action plans of the Government, other state policy documents, international obligations of the State in the sphere of European and Euro-Atlantic integration; implementation within the competence measures to improve the legislation of Ukraine on policy formation in the sphere of competence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular on the de-occupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, adaptation to EU legislation and NATO Recommendations;

3) ensuring, in the spheres of competence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, cooperation between Ukraine and the EU and NATO, their bodies and agencies, as well as member states in the sphere of European and Euro-Atlantic integration; providing proposals for the development of cooperation on these issues;

4) implementation of strategic (comprehensive) analysis of trends and dynamics of development of the security situation as a whole and its individual components; preparation of analytical, informational, reference and other materials on these issues;

5) implementation of round-the-clock monitoring of the state of public security and public order in the state; ensuring in the established procedure prompt informing the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs about events that may cause a public resonance, carry a potential threat to law order, security of man, society and the state, the response to which is subject to the competence Tensions of the organs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
