Zhytomyr police have exposed a criminal group for the production and sale of low-quality fuel
Such a business brought its organizers up to one million hryvnias of profit every month.
Operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Zhytomyr region of the National Police, together with law enforcement colleagues, established not only the organizer and members of the group, but also the channels of sale of counterfeit excise products and the location of the underground shop.
It is known that the inhabitants of the Zhytomyr district organized illegal activities. In the rented premises, intruders made diesel fuel by diluting it with various impurities. Low-quality fuel was sold in the region from specially equipped cars and from an underground workshop at prices much lower than the market. Every month, such a business brought merchants up to one million hryvnias in profit. Non-compliance with fuel standards of DSTU is confirmed by the conclusion of an expert study.
On September 14, the police conducted authorized searches of the places of manufacture, storage and sale of low-quality fuel, as well as the residence and in the vehicles of the defendants.
In addition, on the basis of the evidence received during the investigation, investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Zhytomyr region informed four members of the group about the suspicion. Their actions are qualified under Part 3 of Article 28, Part 1 and 2 of Article 204 (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods committed by an organized criminal group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to five years with the confiscation and destruction of illegally produced or purchased goods, tools of production, raw materials for their manufacture.
Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office.
