Land transactions worth UAH 100 million — in the Carpathian region the police exposed a criminal scheme of privatization of plots
Among the participants are former and current officials of the Department of the State Geocadastre in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. As a result of their illegal actions, more than 120 hectares of land were transferred to private property to the fraudulent persons.
As established by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of the National Police together with law enforcement colleagues, the scheme was organized by former and current officials of the State Geocadastre of the region. In accordance with the developed plan, counterparties were sought who, for remuneration, agreed to act as future owners of the land plot. In the future, they registered ownership of land in the territory of the region without agreement with local self-government bodies and related users.
According to preliminary data, more than 120 hectares of the land fund were illegally privatized under this scheme, and the state suffered losses amounting to UAH 100 million. In addition, citizens in whose use were part of the land plots were deprived of the right to priority privatization.
In order to obtain additional evidence of the involvement of the defendants in criminal activities, law enforcement officers with the strong support of special officers of the KORD conducted court-sanctioned searches.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings opened under Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 364 (Abuse of power or official position) and part 3 of Art. 368 (Solicitation and receipt by an official of illegal benefits) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is carried out by the investigators of the SBI Tertiary Directorate located in the city. Further investigative and operational measures are being carried out to report suspicions to participants in the transaction, to bring them to justice and to compensate for the losses caused to the state.
