National Guard team won the first Ukrainian military race
This morning, the first Ukrainian military race “MILITARY RUN UA” took place in the center of Kyiv. According to the organizers, it was timed to the 30th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The intended race is not to determine the most enduring (although the winners, of course, received cups), but to unite the different power structures and the nation around their defenders.
The distance was also run by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. Hero of Ukraine Major General Igor Gordiichuk gave the start to the participants of the 5-kilometer race.
In addition to the national team, the team of the Northern Territorial Administration and individual participants in individual competitions represented the National Guard at the first military charity race. The national team surprised everyone by covering a 10-kilometer distance before all participants in the 5-kilometer race reached the final. And she received the well-deserved Cup for first place in the team race.
The basis of the race was the active servicemen of various force structures and various kinds of troops of the Armed Forces, but it was open to all categories of the population, regardless of age, gender or citizenship. There were also soldiers from other countries. From the Mariinsky Palace, 1100 runners started at the distance of 5 and 10 kilometers in individual and team competitions.
Volodymyr Chernyak, an officer from military unit 3030, involved his wife and friend in the race: “This is an incredible feeling of unity. Do not compare with when you just run for health and to stay in shape. In a mass race, forces are constantly arriving and at the end it seems that the distance is over quickly.”
For servicemen, participation was free. Charitable contributions of participants for participation in the event will be directed to help the families of combatants who suffered during participation in the ATO/PLO.
