Zaporizhzhya police officers in one of the city's hospitals exposed a corruption scheme
Two officials demanded and received improper benefits from the residents of the region for medical services. One of the defendants was detained by law enforcement officers immediately after receiving a bribe from a patient in the amount of 12 thousand hryvnias. Investigative actions are ongoing.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zaporizhzhya District Police Department, based on the materials of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Zaporizhzhya region of the DSR NP of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Voznesenivska District Prosecutor's Office, carry out a pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings opened on the grounds of the crime stipulated by. 3 Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers established that two doctors of one of the medical institutions of the city of Zaporizhzhia, abusing their official position, demanded and received illegal benefits from the residents of the region for medical services, which belong to free of charge.
On May 18, law enforcement officers exposed one of the defendants immediately after receiving a bribe from a patient in the amount of 12 thousand hryvnias. He is currently detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Today, May 19, the detainee was informed of the suspicion. The issue of choosing a precautionary measure is being resolved.
According to preliminary data, the total amount of funds received from the criminal scheme is about 200 thousand hryvnias every month.
Police officers check the involvement of other officials of the medical institution in the functioning of the corruption scheme.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property. Investigative actions are ongoing.
