By a court decision, the head of the NAAS was again removed from office
Yesterday, May 17, the investigating judge ruled that the head of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, suspected of receiving improper benefits, was again removed from office until July 8 of this year.
Recall: On April 28, 2021, the Kyiv Court of Appeal, at the request of the Investigative Department for the Investigation of Corruption Crimes of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police and the Procedural Leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General, decided to remove from office the head of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
The official contributed to the appointment of the head of one of the state-owned enterprises that are part of the NAAS of Ukraine. Instead, the newly appointed head should not prevent the conclusion of joint activity agreements between the state-owned enterprise and specifically defined economic entities.
Also, the suspect contributed to the inclusion of the same person in the list of applicants to replace the vacancies of academicians and the subsequent transfer of relevant materials for consideration by the Presidium of NAAS. For his help, the defendant received a “thank you” - an elite SUV.
For accepting an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official, a suspect is threatened with imprisonment for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
