During the year of operation of the Automatic Detection of Traffic Violations System, the number of accidents in the places of installation of cameras decreased by 65% - Oleksiy Biloshytskyi
First Deputy Head of the Department of Patrol Police Oleksiy Biloshitsky called on territorial communities to join the System of automatic photo and video recording of violations of traffic rules. After all, in a short time of its work, this approach to ensuring road safety has shown its effectiveness.
He said this during the forum “Ukraine 30. A safe community.”
“I would like to appeal to the communities about organizing road safety on the ground. The organization of road traffic is entrusted to local governments. Now we are talking about those norms that are laid down in both the design and reconstruction of roads. Unfortunately, I can state that little professional attention is paid to this issue on the ground and in the communities. As a result of ineffective steps in road safety, we probably exceed all other fatalities combined. Immediately I want to encourage the heads of communities to contact the heads of the departments of patrol police and the heads of traffic safety departments of the patrol police for assistance and advice, so that we can work together on road safety,” said Oleksiy Biloshitsky.
He shared a successful case in the field of road safety.
“During the operation of the automatic fixation system, we have more than 3 million drafted resolutions, more than 2.5 million resolutions have already been paid, which brought 0.5 billion hryvnias to the state budget. But here I want to emphasize that the principle of operation of the automatic fixation system is not punitive, but preventive. That is why the Ministry of Internal Affairs has implemented an open method of installing automatic fixation cameras, unlike many countries where such cameras are installed covertly,” he stressed.
In a comparative analysis, during the year of the System's operation, the number of accidents in places where cameras are installed decreased by 65%.
“We currently have 236 cameras, by the end of the year we will have 270. Over the next two years, we will increase the number of cameras to 580. This is only the number of cameras that will be installed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And I want to encourage communities to join the System, carry out analysis and make proposals for the installation of cameras for automatic fixation of traffic violations,” Oleksiy Beloshitsky emphasized.
Recall that on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, information on the placement of cameras for fixing traffic violations is constantly updated, only in the past day 18 cameras appeared on the roads of Ukraine.
