The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko said that the police had completed a special operation to neutralize a citizen who threatened to blow up the Cabinet of Ministers.

“The situation is unusual because it was an ATO participant who was wounded twice, including a traumatic brain injury. This crime was committed due to life events,” said the head of the NPU.

At the same time, the head of the National Police said that the talks lasted ten minutes.

“We are investigating this case. Criminal proceedings will be opened under four articles, one of the most difficult - Art. 147 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (taking hostages), the sanction of which provides for imprisonment up to 15 years. No one should violate the law in our country, let alone take hostages, or threaten with weapons or ammunition. He had a combat grenade in his hands, which could harm both people and the state building,” said Igor Klymenko.

The head of the NPU stressed that the police urgently established all the acquaintances of the detainee.

“The first one we found was a friend of the detained Vasily Oleksiuk, who then conducted negotiations. Vasily was at the other end of the city, but the patrol police quickly transported him to the center of the capital. After a little briefing, Vasily found the words that persuaded the offender. Now we cannot call the detained people hostages. These are employees of the Department of State Protection and an employee of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine who tried to communicate with him,” he explained.

Recall that today, at about 10 o'clock in the morning, an unknown person entered the building of the Cabinet of Ministers, who pulled out an object resembling an explosive device from his pocket and threatened to blow it up. A special police operation was carried out in Kyiv.
