Police opened two criminal proceedings over grenade explosion in Kryvyi Rih
As a result of the explosion, the 61-year-old man who detonated the grenade and three policemen received bodily injuries. Passers-by citizens were not injured. From the man's residence, law enforcement officers seized two grenades “RGD-5" with incendiaries to them.
On August 8, around 17:23 a local resident contacted the police and said that he planned to detonate a grenade near one of the houses in the Ingulets district of the city.
The call was immediately received by the patrol police officers of the city of Kryvyi Rih, who began negotiations with the man and called operational services to the scene. During the conversation, the man gave the law enforcement officers one ammunition “RGD-5", which he held in his hands. However, after that, he suddenly took out a second grenade from his pocket and blew it up.

On the same day, the police searched the apartment of the defendant, during which two more grenades were seized. Everything removed is directed to expert research.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal storage of firearms and ammunition) and under Part 1 of Art. 348 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
