Police opened criminal proceedings on the conflict with the shooting in the capital Pechersk - Andriy Kryshchenko
As a result of the incident, two men were hospitalized to medical institutions: one with light bodily injuries to the face and the other with a head injury. The incident qualifies as hooliganism.
“It is preliminarily established that a conflict arose between two business partners — a Kyiv resident, born in 1972, and a citizen of another state, born in 1978, which grew into a fight. Later, his two acquaintances became a foreigner. At that moment, the Kievan took out a weapon and shot several times in the direction of the opponents,” said the head of the Kiev police Andriy Kryshchenko.
Then the foreigner and his acquaintances got into the car and drove in an unknown direction. A special police operation was introduced to search for cars in Kiev. In less than an hour, the wanted car was stopped by patrol police in the Podolsk district of the capital.
“There was a man in the car with a head injury. We have established his identity. This is a 37-year-old native of Kherson, who is wanted by the local police for murder. The man is currently in hospital under the protection of police officers. At the scene where the incident took place, we seized several holsters, a traumatic pistol and permits for it. The citizen of Kiev was hospitalized with minor bodily injuries,” the head of the capital's police added.
On the fact of the incident, the investigators of the Pechersk Police Department started a pre-trial investigation under Part 4 of Art. 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to seven years in prison. Investigative actions continue.
