A former official may face up to 5 years in prison.
The operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Volyn region of the National Police, together with law enforcement colleagues, exposed the illegal activities of the official. During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the former director of Shatsky National Natural Park allowed illegal felling of trees of the reserve fund.
The official signed logging tickets without established limits, thereby granting permission to chop wood. As a result of such actions, the state suffered damages in the amount of more than UAH 7 million, which were reimbursed in the course of the investigation.
Pre-trial investigation, which was conducted by investigators of the SBI Terra Department, located in the city. Lviv, completed. With the approval of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, the indictment against the ex-director was sent to court. He is charged with committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Art. 367 (Civil negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
