Since the beginning of the year, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have seized and destroyed more than 30 thousand explosive objects
Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine carry out daily work to survey the territory of the country, identify, seize and destroy explosive objects from past wars. Most often, citizens find such dangerous finds during rest in the forests, during state work on the territory of their own households. And in the summer, the number of discovered munitions in water bodies also increases.
So, the other day the Transcarpathian Rescue Service received a message about the discovery of an object that looks like an explosive. A man unexpectedly came across him while swimming in the Latoritsa River in Mukacheve. He called rescuers and they, in turn, arrived at the scene and identified the ammunition as an RGD-5 grenade. The dangerous find was recovered and destroyed by controlled detonation at a designated location.
In the Odesa region, in the waters of the Black Sea near the village of Lebedivka, local divers discovered a sunken ship with ammunition of the Second World War. On June 19, a pyrotechnic group made a trip to destroy these VNPs to the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district and, as a result, destroyed 71 artillery shells of 75 mm caliber, detonators and other explosive objects such as cartridges of the Second World War were placed.
Twenty-four 50 mm mortar mines, four 76 mm mortars and an F-1 hand grenade were carried out in Sumy region last week. Ammunition was previously discovered in the s. Perekopovka, in the Romeni region. Dangerous items were taken to a designated place and destroyed by detonation.
In addition, work is underway on the demining of liberated territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Thus, on June 21, units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the territory of Donetsk region, where the PLO is conducted, surveyed 1.42 hectares of territory and identified and removed 4 VNPs.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the pyrotechnic units of the SNS have seized and destroyed 30 thousand 157 explosive objects, including 194 aircraft bombs.
Therefore, in order to prevent accidents among the population in case of detection of explosive objects, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine once again appeals to citizens to observe the rules of safe handling of explosive or unknown objects!
It is strictly prohibited:
- touch a suspicious object or move it;
- fill it with liquids, cover it with soil or cover it with something;
- to exert sound, light, thermal or mechanical effects on a suspicious object, because almost all explosive substances are sensitive to mechanical, sound effects and heating;
- try to independently neutralize the find.
Remember that in case of detection of explosive objects, it is necessary to immediately report this at the number “101” or “102” and in no case try to identify the found ammunition yourself!
