Since the beginning of the year, 180 million UAH of goods have been seized at the border with the Russian Federation and the demarcation line from illegal circulation
This year, in eastern Ukraine, border guards liquidated the activities of 12 criminal groups involved in smuggling and counterfeiting.
Thanks to the work of operational-search units of the Eastern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, since the beginning of this year, 23 bases of accumulation of smuggled and counterfeit goods and 78 places of their sale have been discovered and stopped. This is mainly about excisable goods. In particular, more than 840 thousand packs of cigarettes, 43 tons of counterfeit alcohol, 1.3 thousand tons of counterfeit fuel and equipment for its production were seized from illegal circulation. The total amount of the seized goods amounted to more than 180 million UAH.
Also, the border guards liquidated the channel of illegal circulation of monetary assets between the temporarily occupied and controlled territories of Ukraine and the activities of transit and conversion centers that carried out shadow transactions and carried out financing of the illegal element.
37 criminal proceedings have been initiated for committing crimes in the economic sphere, according to the submission of border guards of the Eastern Regional Administration. This year, for committing such crimes, 4 people received court indictments and sentences in the form of imprisonment for terms from 1 to 3 years. Also, the courts imposed fines in the amount of 119 thousand UAH.
