Kharkiv police promptly detained the attacker for brutal murder
The bodies of the roommates with numerous stab wounds were found in the apartment at the place of residence of the dead.
According to the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region Andrei Rubel, experienced operatives, investigators, forensics, dog handlers were involved in the investigative and search activities.
- Within a few hours we had information about the probable involvement in the crime of a friend of the dead. He is a Kharkiv resident, he is only 22 years old, - Andrey Rubel said. - During the authorized search, material evidence was seized from his home, which is sent for expert research. During the investigative actions, the man did not resist.
Currently, the attacker is detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The necessary investigative actions continue, all possible versions of the murder are being worked out. One of the versions is murder because of jealousy. Investigators notified the man of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In the near future, the court will choose a preventive measure for the attacker.
- We, together with the prosecutor's office, will insist on detention without bail, - the head of the Kharkiv police clarified.
If the detainee's guilt is proven in court, the suspect faces up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Recall that a report about the incident was received by the police on May 2 at about 20:30 from the mother of the deceased. The woman was worried that her son was not answering phone calls and came to the apartment. She opened the door with a spare key and saw her 29-year-old son and his 24-year-old roommate dead.
The leadership of the GUNP in the Kharkiv region, the investigative and operational group and the leadership of the Kharkiv district police department No. 2 canine service, forensic laboratory went to the scene.
