Internal security of the National Police exposed the bribery of the capital police
The deputy head of the police department of one of the districts of Kiev is documented to collect and receive illegal benefits from local entrepreneurs for providing the opportunity to work in violation of or in violation of quarantine restrictions.
Operators of the Kyiv City Department of Internal Security of the NPU established and collected information regarding one of the deputy heads of the district department of the capital police. In particular, the 37-year-old policeman demanded bribes from business entities in the service area for the purpose of illegal enrichment.
For “permission” to work during quarantine restrictions or for assisting in avoiding liability, business representatives provided a monetary “reward” to the police officer. The amount of the monthly “rollback” depended on the number of days worked by the entity or on the “severity” of the administrative violation.
According to the internal security materials of the NPU, the SBI investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office, opened criminal proceedings.
The transfer of 38 thousand hryvnias of illegal benefits to the police is documented. Internal security officers of the National Police and the SBI, with the physical support of the FIB Rapid Response Department of the NPU, detained the defendant for receiving another bribe. The events were held with the assistance of the SBU and the leadership of the Kiev police chief.
SBI investigators announced a suspicion of the defendant under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property. Currently, the policeman is detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
