Internal security of the National Police: three employees of the Volyn police are suspected of exceeding the power
Internal security officers of the NPU established that in the Volyn region the outfit of the patrol police made an illegal arrest and at the same time caused bodily harm to the person. On the fact of illegal actions of police officers, the prosecutor's office of the region initiated criminal proceedings.
In September 2020, the Volyn Department of the Department of Internal Security of the NPU received information about certain employees of the Department of Patrol Police in the Volyn region who illegally used force against a man.
In particular, the police, exceeding their official authority, illegally detained a resident of Lutsk and inflicted bodily harm on him.
According to the internal security materials of the NPU, the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated criminal proceedings. The pre-trial investigation body has been determined by TU SBI, located in the city of Lviv.
At the moment, the police have been given a suspicion for part 2 of Art. 365 (Excess of power or official authority by an employee of a law enforcement agency) and part 1 of Art. 371 (Knowingly illegal detention, pretext, arrest or detention) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the committed acts, the defendants may face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
