Vinnytsia police detained an organized criminal group that seized agricultural firms in different regions for millions of hryvnias
On May 14, during a special operation in Vinnytsia, employees of the criminal police, together with the investigators and detectives of the GUNP, with the strong support of KORD fighters and special agents, detained an organized criminal group of fraudsters. Under the pretext of buying and selling grain, attackers committed more than a dozen criminal episodes in different regions of the country. All detainees have previously been convicted of property crimes and are currently in temporary detention.
According to the head of criminal investigation department of the GUNP in Vinnytsia region Andriy Damzin, during operational and investigative actions, the police identified and detained members of a criminal group who specialized in fraudulent schemes for appropriating funds of enterprising farmers. The attackers were detained by the police when they returned to Vinnytsia after they committed another tour in the Khmelnytskyi region. In documenting their criminal activities, the investigation found that the organizers of the crimes on the sites were looking for farmers who sold grain and at the same time negotiated with farmers willing to buy it. When drivers from the buyer's side came for grain, the attackers posed as representatives of the seller, took the money and left the territory of the enterprise. Thus, the buyer was left without money and grain.
The defendants of the criminal group were sanctioned searches, during which mobile phones, SIM cards, records of transactions, bank cards, money, four pistols, three units of cold weapons and an object similar to a grenade were seized. The removed is sent for examination.
According to the investigation, the attackers caused millions of damages to more than ten farmers from different regions.
Detainees, detective investigators of the regional head of police announced suspicion of committing crimes stipulated in Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of five to twelve years with confiscation of property. Investigators will apply to the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The investigation is carried out under the procedural support of the prosecutor's office.
