“Retribution” for winning tenders — police have exposed the head of one of the Pension Fund departments in the Ivano-Frankivsk region
The amount of illegal benefit was 10-15% of the total amount of the contract.
Today, July 22, the official was detained by the operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Ivano-Frankivsk region together with the investigators of the regional police. The head of the structural unit of the regional department of the Pension Fund established a corruption mechanism for obtaining victory by entrepreneurs during public procurement and further transfer of funds to the winners for the work performed. The amount of illegal benefits amounted to 10-15% of the total amount of contracts.
During the procedural measures, the police documented the fact that they demanded 10% “kickback” from the entrepreneur for the calculations regarding the repairs carried out, as well as further assistance in winning tenders.
With the support of KORD, the official was detained while receiving 12 thousand hryvnias. The question of his detention is resolved in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and declaration of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
For the solicitation and receipt of illegal benefits by an official, the current legislation provides for liability in the form of imprisonment for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
