In Mariupol, teachers of all universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took a training course - “Police interaction with the community”. It was developed by the EU Advisory Mission (ECSC) together with the Canadian Police Mission to Ukraine. Soon, teachers will begin teaching this subject in their higher education institutions.

The first group of instructors will be prepared by international partners in May this year at Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. The representative of the EU and Canada conveyed to the teachers the knowledge that Ukrainian coaches can pass on to their colleagues. All graduates have obtained the appropriate qualifications to teach the course “Community policing” to cadets in their Higher Education Institutions.

The educational program “Police Interaction with the Community” contains international best practices. Currently, it is widespread among all universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and is part of educational programs.

The EMES representative office said that they will provide support to all universities to launch their own course “Police Interaction with the Community” for cadets.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko took part in the event on the occasion of the completion of teacher training.

“Today, the police, together with the community, are working to solve the problems and challenges that face a particular community. The project is aimed at interaction between law enforcement agencies and the population, and is based on the principles of trust, support and mutual assistance,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko at the opening of the event.

She also thanked foreign partners for their active assistance in creating the program.

“Police interaction with the community is one of the top priorities of the ECSC.
