Ukraine introduces new European standards for driver's licenses
In Ukraine, new European standards for driver's licenses are introduced. From now on, it has a mark on passing the practical exam on a vehicle with an automatic transmission. It is indicated in column 12 of the document in the form of the code “78". If it is available, drivers will be able to drive the car only with an automatic transmission, and in the absence - with any. The changes will not affect those drivers who were issued a license earlier.
“Such innovations are another step towards bringing the national driver's license form in line with international standards, and most importantly - strengthening road safety. From next year, we will actively work on systemic improvement of the process of obtaining a driver's license. The new driving school will be based on the principles of justice, transparency, exactingness and responsibility,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bohdan Drapyaty.
These changes are regulated by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated September 22, 2021 No. 1007. It introduced a number of innovations in terms of issuing driver's licenses and allowing citizens to drive vehicles.
At the moment, the design of the driver's license form has already changed. Since last year, it has a dark pink color, similar to the color of the European document, a stylized image of the State Flag of Ukraine to identify the country. The document has become more protected from fakes. A protective element is implanted in it, its validity period is indicated, as well as the blood group and Rh factor of the driver.
