Today, December 21, an extended meeting of the Collegium of the State Migration Service of Ukraine was held with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, heads of structural units of the apparatus and territorial bodies of the migration service.

During the meeting, the issue of current activity of SMS based on the results of work in 2021 and development prospects for the future was considered.

In particular, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky stressed that a reliable and secure identification system of Ukrainian citizens and foreigners has been established in Ukraine, which is one of the key components of Ukraine's national security. At the same time, the Migration Service should shift priorities from organizing the provision of administrative services to combating illegal migration — this should happen in parallel with the growth of the network of centers for the provision of administrative services. The activities of the DMS should be based on forecasting migration risks and ensuring timely responses to potential threats.

First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin and Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights, De-Occupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Oblasts and Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, National Minorities and Internationalities of relations Dmytro Lubinets spoke about legislative initiatives, in particular — about the experimental procedure for issuing a passport of a citizen of Ukraine within one day and draft laws №4411 and №4412, which concern the improvement of the norms of legislation in relation to the stay of foreigners and stateless persons on the territory of Ukraine and the updating of the norms of the KUPP establishing responsibility for violations of migration legislation.

The head of the DMS Natalia Naumenko informed that in 2022 it is planned to carry out a complex of measures to optimize the work of territorial units of the DMS. This should be the foundation for building an efficient and flexible service structure that will be able to respond promptly and adequately to any migration risks. The Migration Service will continue to operate in compliance with the principles of transparency, result-oriented and accessibility for the citizen. Along with this, there will be further digitization of services, transition to e-service policy on the principles of “paperless”, “corruption free” and “fast as possible”.

The Board also considered issues related to information security and cyber protection of information resources of the DMS, evaluation of the activities of territorial bodies of the SMS, cooperation in the field of migration with other state bodies and provision of analytical component in the work of the Migration Service.
