In Ukraine, there is a ban on the use of symbols of totalitarian regimes. Their use involves:
- administrative responsibility - article 173-3 of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses, states that the manufacture and promotion of St. George's tape entails the imposition of a fine from fifty to one hundred and fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens with the confiscation of St. George's (guard) tape or objects containing its image.
- criminal liability - Article 436 -1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - production, distribution of communist, Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years.
