In Odessa, law enforcement officers announced suspicion of two men in the sale of counterfeit national currency and illegal possession of a vehicle
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for offenders in the form of detention is resolved. They are threatened with imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with confiscation of property.
It was established that the 36-year-old resident of Odessa together with his 55-year-old acquaintance from the Bolgrad district bought fake money in order to further sell them by purchasing vehicles put up for sale on the Internet.
By deception, the attackers sold more than eight thousand counterfeit hryvnias in the form of banknotes with a face value of 500 hryvnias, buying Volkswagen Golf for them.
Offenders were exposed when the victim doubted the authenticity of the money received for a foreign car and turned to the police.
In the course of the authorized searches, the illegally acquired car, counterfeit money, “inverted” numbers, muffler and other material evidence of illegal activity were seized from the attackers.
According to the results of the pre-trial investigation carried out by the employees of the Investigation Department of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in the Odessa region with the prompt support of the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department, under the procedural direction of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, the defendants were informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 199 and Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code The Criminal Code of Ukraine. Now the investigators will ask to take them into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
