In Odessa, law enforcement officers announced suspicion of two men in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit money
The offenders were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for them is resolved.
Employees of the Investigative Department for the Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in the Odessa region found that men aged 40 and 45 years in their apartment equipped a typography for printing counterfeit national currency. The attackers produced banknotes with a face value of 500 hryvnias, which were later sold at half price, creating the possibility of these papers being in legal circulation under the guise of real money. The youngest defendant was convicted of a similar crime, his senior accomplice was prosecuted for fraud and theft.
An authorized search was carried out at the place of residence of the offenders, during which counterfeit money, their layouts, a multifunctional printed printer, an ultraviolet detector, paint and other equipment used by intruders in illegal activities were seized. Physical evidence was sent by law enforcement officers for examination.
According to the results of the pre-trial investigation, both men were informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the manufacture and storage for the purpose of sale, as well as the sale of counterfeit money committed under a previous conspiracy, the suspect is threatened with imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with confiscation of property.
